Banks County Middle School4

Homer, GA | Banks County

Greatest Middle school ever. My daughter was in Gwinnett County schools. Banks County is far better. Gwinnett is a 2 where Banks is a 10+.

My child has attended several different schools over the past 8 years. I can honestly say that BCMS is the best school we have ever attended. The principal is a great leader and the teachers are wonderful. The test scores at our school are some of the best in our area. I am thankful for this school!

I love this school. I've been in many schools before and this is by far the best. Our principal is a bit over pushy about 'Game Day' but it motivates us to do better. The teachers are willing to help you.

This is the 3rd school my children have attended. I love it! They love it too! I like the way I'm notified about what is going on at the school. This is the 3rd yr in a row that the school has made AYP. They even beat Gwinett and Commerce this yr. They attend the afterschool program. They have 4 workers each day to help the kids and transportation home by bus. The equiptment they have access to is awsome! Major money has been spent on this program!! I will not move until they are out of school! Great job teachers and staff!

The incredible pressure on these students to perform on 'Game Day' is enormous. The entire year has been geared toward teaching to the big test. It will only get worse as the good teachers leave.

I am positive that my two children learned a lot in the middle school this year. The co-teaching and after school program really helped both of them pass the Crct which is required by the President of the United States and Sonny Perdue. I hate that schools have to pass these to get federal funds. Children are not retaining what we learned in schools as compared to the 70's and 80's. The test is a big joke for education because of retaining what they are learning on a daily basis. I feel my kids did better because of the extra teacher in the classroom and they made it enjoyable.

This school like all Banks County Schools are a joke. I should have done research on Banks County schools before I bought my property. Majority of the teachers that are there are there for a paycheck! Not to teach children. What about the principle and vice principle they're a bigger joke than the school. Leave messages and they don't call you back. My daughters use to like school and now they can't stand to go. No children left behind! They don't care. Afterschool program didn't help. Nobody would help, so what's the point. I'll be home schooling. At least I know my children will be taught better!

this school is on the needs to improve list generated by the new federal law of no child left behind act. one of the side effects of being on this list is that they must provide tutoring for those that fall short of grades. they are not adequately providing tutors. the kids are put in the afterschool area where a teacher gives them an afternoon snack and keeps after them to do their homework. but if a child cant finish the homework because he doesnt understand the concept there is no teacher to explain the process to where my child can understand and complete the required work. next there is no transportation available and both myself and my husband work and are not able to pick him up by the required 5:15. if not picked up at that time the kids are brought to dfacs office and i verified with them that they will them start procedings for child abandonment and run the risk of loosing my kids? so ow does this system provide a better education. i can give more examples if asked to do so
